Ao Nang creates a particular hotel-booking trap. The same trip that makes breakfast-inclusive look useful — several active days, no desire to hunt for food at 7 a.m., lots of time on boats — can also be the trip that removes the breakfast hours you prepaid.
That is because Krabi excursions do not share one morning rhythm. An early-bird Phi Phi tour can put you in the lobby before a normal hotel buffet opens. A standard Hong Islands or Phi Phi departure may leave enough time for a proper breakfast. A morning kayak pickup can sit in the uncomfortable middle: technically possible, but only if you are dressed, packed and downstairs early enough.

Put each morning into one of three buckets
You do not need a spreadsheet. You need to know whether breakfast is impossible, tight or comfortable.

That 06:30 opening is useful, but it is not early enough to rescue every Krabi excursion morning.

Holiday Ao Nang Beach Resort currently lists Inn Asia Restaurant as opening at 06:30 as well. These examples show why the exact hotel matters, but they should not be treated as a promise for every property or every rate. Breakfast venue, hours and entitlements can change. Recheck your own hotel before paying a non-refundable breakfast premium.

The early-bird Phi Phi morning is the clearest reason not to count every breakfast
Sea Eagle Tour's current early-bird Phi Phi + Four Islands programme publishes hotel pickup from roughly 05:40 to 06:30, depending on location, before a 06:00–07:00 departure window from the Nopparat Thara area. The operator also currently includes a breakfast snack box at the pier.
If that is your tour morning, a 06:30 hotel buffet is not a realistic benefit. Even if your Ao Nang pickup is at the later end of the range, arriving at the restaurant as the doors open is a poor plan when you still need to be in swimwear, collect valuables, refill water and wait in the correct lobby.

Standard island mornings are different: breakfast may fit comfortably
Current Sea Eagle schedules put many standard shared boat trips later. Its Thai-language operator pages currently show around 08:30 Ao Nang hotel pickup for standard Phi Phi, Hong Islands and Four Islands programmes, followed by pier check-in and departure.
That is a very different morning from the early-bird run. At a hotel serving from 06:30, an 08:30 pickup gives a traveler who likes early starts enough room for breakfast without needing to inhale coffee while watching the lobby door.
The exact booking still wins over the example. Pickup can vary by hotel zone, operator and trip date. Klong Muang and Tubkaek can have earlier collections than central Ao Nang, which is one more reason to compare Klong Muang vs Ao Nang by the activities you actually booked rather than only the resort photos.

The 08:15 kayak pickup is the breakfast-squeeze test
Love Nature Krabi currently lists morning Ao Thalane kayaking with pickup starting from 08:15, with exact timing confirmed according to hotel location. That is not an automatic reason to skip hotel breakfast. It is a test of how you actually travel in the morning.
If you are naturally downstairs at 06:45, have your day bag packed the night before and are comfortable going straight from breakfast to the lobby, the meal is easy to use. If you want a shower, hair dry, sunscreen, coffee, a second coffee and ten minutes to repack the dry bag, the same 08:15 pickup becomes tight.

Do not accidentally buy breakfast twice
Some Krabi tours include food after pickup. Sea Eagle's early-bird Phi Phi programme currently includes a breakfast snack box at the pier. Its current Emerald Pool, Hot Springs and Tiger Cave Temple jungle excursion advertises a homemade breakfast before the first attraction.
Those are not equivalent to a leisurely hotel buffet, and you should not assume every operator serves the same quantity or accommodates every dietary requirement. But commercially, they change the calculation. If the excursion already feeds you at the time you would otherwise miss hotel breakfast, paying a hotel breakfast premium for that morning buys less.

Breakfast-inclusive is strongest when the hotel owns your morning
Lean breakfast-inclusive
Most mornings are green. You have a resort day, a later-start excursion, perhaps a sunset boat, and only one truly early pickup. You enjoy eating before leaving, and the exact total-stay premium is acceptable.
This is especially logical when your hotel is part of the holiday. A traveler choosing an Ao Nang beachfront hotel or cliffside resort for pool, view and slow mornings may use breakfast as part of the same on-property block.
Lean room-only
Two or more mornings are red or amber. You have an early Phi Phi day, a kayaking morning, an early airport departure, or you already want to try cafés outside the hotel.
Room-only is also cleaner when the expensive hotel feature is something else you plan to use — for example, a pool-access room or private pool villa — and breakfast is simply being bundled into a rate you may not fully use.
Do not assume “breakfast included” means a takeaway box if you leave early
This is worth checking before you book, not at 5:40 a.m. Some hotels may be able to prepare an early breakfast box or offer another arrangement. Others may not, or the service may depend on notice, rate plan, occupancy and departure time.
Ask the hotel these four questions
1. What are the breakfast hours on my stay dates?
2. If I leave before breakfast opens, is an early breakfast box available?
3. Is that box included in my exact breakfast rate, or charged separately?
4. How much notice do you need?
A useful answer is specific. “We can arrange something” is not the same as a confirmed included breakfast at 05:30.
For solo travelers, the early-morning value is often certainty rather than food
If you are waiting alone for a 06:00 pickup, the practical question is whether you can stay inside the hotel lobby until the driver arrives, whether reception is staffed, and whether the operator has your correct WhatsApp number and hotel entrance. Do not walk out to a dark roadside pickup point just because a map pin looks close.
Pack the boat bag the night before, keep the room key and phone accessible, and confirm whether the pickup is at the main lobby or a road entrance. A missed buffet is annoying; missing the van because you waited at the wrong gate is much worse.

Use the total stay price, not a per-breakfast guess
There is no universal amount at which breakfast becomes “worth it.” Hotel rates move by date, room category, cancellation terms and promotion. The clean comparison is the total price of the two otherwise comparable rate plans on your exact dates.
Then look at your mornings. If the breakfast-inclusive rate costs more, ask whether the number of comfortable hotel breakfasts you expect to eat justifies that total difference for you. Do not use a generic buffet price from another website and pretend it is your break-even point.
Also keep cancellation policy separate. A refundable breakfast rate may be more expensive than a non-refundable room-only rate for reasons that have nothing to do with food.

Count breakfasts by usable morning, not by hotel night. If the buffet opens at 06:30 but your excursion repeatedly puts you in the lobby before or just after that, those breakfasts do not deserve full value in the rate comparison.
